Connecting farmers and agritourism operations across Western NY.

The Cooperative Extensions of Monroe and Erie County has partnered to organize a Regional Agritourism Networking Session that connects farmers and agritourism operators in Western New York with local tourism organizations and agencies.

The event will be held at Wickham Farms, 1315 Sweets Corners Rd., Penfield, NY.

Agritourism is a growing niche of tourism. Recent years have seen a dramatic increase in people’s interest in local agriculture, and in buying fresh food directly from nearby farms. Farmers wanting to engage in agritourism have the huge advantage of having this large population of potential customers at their doorsteps.

Who should attend? Farmers engaged in or planning future agritourism activities as their primary business or as an add-on to their existing operations are encouraged to participate. Through this event, we aim to further develop agritourism in Western New York and support farmers in creating and promoting agritourism activities on their farms.

Why should I attend? Experienced agritourism operators will discuss the best practices and opportunities that agritourism can bring to your farm. You will be able to connect with tourism agencies and learn about the resources available through your Extension and Cornell’s Agritourism Program Work Team. This newly established state-wide outreach Team will also facilitate discussions and connections to the national agritourism network.

Speaker List includes:

●Bill Wickham - Wickam Farm

●Creg LaDuca - Visit Rochester

●Amy Machamer - Hurd Orchards

●Sara Emmert, NYS Division of Tourism - I LOVE NY

●Laura Biasilio - CCE Broome and Cornell’s Agritourism Program Team

Participants can also enter a raffle to win a prize. Each raffle ticket will include a 10% discount to the Taste NY Markets in Western NY and Finger Lakes Welcome Centers who generously donated the raffle baskets. More information about the raffle is available here.

The program will conclude with a tour of Wickham Farm grounds and their 30+ farm attractions.

The registration fee of $12 includes lunch, all resource materials, and the tour.
