About Ag at CCE

CCE-Wayne stands out among local organizations by providing a comprehensive range of education and resources that allow for a holistic approach to food system issues. By operating at the food system level, we can more effectively tackle interconnected challenges such as food safety, food access, local agriculture, and community infrastructure. Our resources cater to both farmers and consumers, covering various aspects of the food system.

Resources for Farm Production and Marketing

These resources aim to enhance the number of farms and boost farm profitability through workshops, business planning, and technical consulting in production and marketing. By collaborating across five counties, Extension Agricultural Educators provide guidance on sustainable practices for dairy, field crops, livestock, vegetables, fruits, and agroforestry. New or aspiring farmers can access information on soil and climate, along with links to publications and websites that guide them in starting a farm or locating suitable land for agricultural activities. Additional initiatives focus on increasing year-round food sales through season extension, processing, and fostering connections between local farms and wholesale or institutional buyers.

For Consumers
Strong farmer-consumer connections result in a strong local foods system in which consumers identify and appreciate the value of local products, foods are produced and consumed locally, "food miles" and our carbon footprint are reduced, and dollars keep circulating here to strengthen our local economy. Through special events, farm tours, publications, and classroom outreach, CCE-Wayne connects you and your family with the farmers who grow your food.
